05 Jul 2009 - Following discussions with the receivers, Milk Link has agreed to offer a milk supply contract to the remaining 143 Dairy Farmers of Britain (DFB) Members who are yet to secure an alternative buyer for their milk.

Effective from 1st July, Milk Link will pay a price of 18.45ppl for a standard litre of milk – this compares favourably with the 10ppl currently being paid to farmers previously on a contract with DFB, says Milk Link.
"We believe this will provide these farmers with a much needed period of stability and a secure outlet for their milk whilst they assess how they want to move forward with their business," says Milk Link.
Naturally, we would have liked to offer a higher price but the 18.45ppl reflects the returns we are likely to be able to secure from commodity markets and the significant haulage costs associated with a geographically widespread milkfield. Farmers are located mainly in the North East and North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Lancashire, south of Manchester and a smaller number in South Wales.
